The Draft RMP Amendment is open for public comment until October 31, 2026.

Make your voice heard. Send a comment to the BLM to let them know how you would like this area to be managed. Effective comments can include a call for BLM to:

• Fully incorporate community-driven recommendations developed over years of engagement.

• Close lands to oil and gas development—especially those with high ecological or recreational value, and those near sensitive water infrastructure and local farms. Specific areas that should be closed to development include: all lands in the North Fork Valley, the Adobe Badlands, Dolores River Canyon country, and the Roubideau Canyons area.  

• Designate Areas of Critical Environmental Concern (ACECs) based on state and stakeholder nominations. Specifically, BLM should designate the Dolores River Riparian and Paradox Front, Roubideau Canyons, Shavano-Tabeguache, and Adobe Badlands ACECs, as well as areas proposed by Colorado Parks and Wildlife for their important fish and wildlife habitat.

• Protect lands with wilderness characteristics through updated inventories and strong management. Specifically BLM should manage the wilderness quality lands adjacent to the Dolores River Canyon Wilderness Study Area (Davis Mesa, Nyswonger Mesa, Wray Mesa), the Camel Back Wilderness Study Area (Monitor Creek and upper Potter Creek), wildlands in the Roc Creek/Carpenter Ridge area, and lands adjacent to the Adobe Badlands WSA for protection. 

• Prioritize the economic importance of recreation, agriculture, and clean water to local communities. BLM should listen to communities and close all lands within the North Fork Valley to future oil and gas development.
